הרי אפרים ובנימין

53. רמה

A white inscription against a black background shows the village. But it is problematical to attribute to it one of the three vignettes underneath.

Rama, in the tribe of Benjamin; a city of Saul, at the 6th milestone from Jerusalem to the north, in front of Bethel. Jeremias mentioned it too. (Eusebius, Onomasticon 144:14-15; Jerome 145:13-14)

Photo: Ramah, Samuel's home-town and burial-place, according to the presently accepted tradition, is on a hill opposite to er-Ram. The place is called by the prophet's name Nebi Samwil.
